Sustainable Materials
There was an exhibition of sustainable materials at Kingston University.
It was incredible to see the range of sustainable materials available, the high quality of them and the products created and uses of them.
The main issues centred around their use or lack of was prejudice and ignornace on the side of consumers and a lack of marketing and clout on the side of the producers and developers. However there is evidence that this is changing (slowly) and the materials.
There many products of interest however my favourites were the recycled plasic planks for oil rigs in place of the current popular wooden planks, obviously a cheaper and safer option. There was also a coffin made from recycled paper and items of furniture made from recycled plastic including a very impressive bench. other items were from the fashion, construction, homewares and interior design industries.
